Team KBC Crossover was not one of the 24 teams selected to play in The Basketball Tournament next month.
Chris Lofton was on the roster for Team KBC Crossover. He was originally scheduled to play for the Ballinteers, a team of Tennessee alumni.
The Ballinteers team announced last week that it was dropping out of the tournament because COVID-19 provisions for the event presented too many obstacles for the players.
The Basketball Tournament features a one-million dollar plus winner-take-all championship game.
The original format called for 64 teams to be placed into regions, but that plan was scrapped due to COVID-19. Now, 24 teams will play a single-elimination tournament in Columbus, Ohio July 4-14.
The teams will be quarantined.
The 24 teams were selected during a live show today.
In last year's tournament, Lofton, playing for KBC, scored 18 points in an opening round victory in the Lexington Region and he hit eight three-pointers and poured in 32 points in a semifinal loss.
