Local golf and tennis news

Here are a few local golf and tennis news and notes:


  • The pro shop at the Wells Creek Par 3 golf course at the Maysville-Mason County Recreation Park has reopened. The golf course was open during the quarantine, but the pro shop did not open until last week.


  • The first tournament of the year at Kenton Station Golf Course will take place this weekend. It's a two-man best ball tournament. The entry fee is $80 for members and $100 for non-members.
  • In a post on its Facebook page today, Maysville Country Club said 47 golfers had signed up for the Chippeways tournament. At least 80 golfers need to be signed up by this Sunday to have the tournament which is scheduled July 24-26.
  • July 28 and 29 are the dates for the Laurel Oaks Classic, a 36-hole stroke play tournament. The fee is $80 for members and $100 for non-members. The deadline to sign up is July 16.
  • A Mason County Senior Tennis League has been formed. Matches are played on Monday nights at the Maysville-Mason County Recreation Park. The Mason County Adult Tennis League is on Tuesday nights at the rec park. Both leagues have Facebook pages.
