KHSAA eliminates spring football practice, local schools postpone other spring sports

Sports cancellations and postponements continue to be announced in the fight against the spread of COVID-19.

One day after the state basketball tournaments were postponed, the Kentucky High School Athletic Association announced this morning that spring football practice for middle school and high school has been eliminated for this year. The KHSAA news release also says there is no allowance for team meetings, instruction, classroom work or any other activity where any football-specific instruction is involved through at least Sunday, April 12.

Mason County Assistant Athletic Director Chris Ullery announced that beginning Monday, March 16 all athletic practices and games are postponed through March 27. Prior to March 27, the school district will evaluate its circumstances and make a decision concerning athletics at that time.

St. Patrick School announced that no extracurricular activities including sports, practices, open gyms or sporting events of any type will be permitted from Monday, March 16 through Friday, March 27. Practices will also not be permitted off campus.
