KHSAA declares a dead period for all sports

The Kentucky High School Athletic Association today declared a dead period for all sports through Sunday, April 12 as part of the nationwide effort to stop the spread of the coronavirus or COVID-19.

The dead period supersedes announcements made this morning by local school districts that said sports activities were prohibited from March 16 through March 27.

Earlier today, the KHSAA announced spring football practice was canceled. Now, all sports are on hold.

During the dead period, students may not receive coaching or use school facilities. Coaches are permitted to communicate with players and/or families on the current roster.

The KHSAA also announced that refund policies for the girls' and boys' state basketball tournaments will be announced not later than Wednesday, March 18.
