The Mason County Lady Royals suffered a heartbreaking season-ending loss in the 10th Region Tournament semifinals tonight.
Gabrielle Hatterick drained a corner three to give the Harrison County Fillies a 37-34 victory at Montgomery County.
There were nine ties and eight lead changes in the game. The biggest lead for either team was four points when the Lady Royals were up 31-27 early in the fourth quarter.
Mason County lead 34-32 lead with 1:59 left.
Harrison County tied the game on a putback by Sydney Morris with 1:10 to go.
After a Mason County turnover with 63 seconds left, the Fillies played for the last shot. 10th Region Player of the Year Madison Kellione milked the clock before passing the ball to Hatterick for the game-winning basket.
Mason County's half court heave at the buzzer was short.
Harrison County won despite shooting 26.5 percent from the field.
The Lady Royals used a box-and-one defense to hold Kellione to four points. Kellione averages 19.7 points a game and she poured in 29 points in Harrison County's 23-point win over Mason County in the regular season.
Hatterick led the Fillies in scoring tonight with 11 points. Trenyce Kenney came in off the bench and added 10 points.
Victoria Brooks and Emma Taylor led the Lady Royals in scoring with nine points apiece.
