Ty Fox signs with Georgetown College

Mason County senior Tyrion "Ty" Fox signed today to play football at Georgetown College.

Fox was ready to commit to Kentucky State University, but Mason County coach Jonathan Thomas told him to visit Georgetown as planned.

"Then he goes to Georgetown and he falls in love," Thomas said.

"It just felt like home," Fox said of Georgetown. "The players treated me like I was already there."

Mason County assistant principal and former assistant football coach Seth Faulkner, who won two National Championships at Georgetown College, took Fox to his visit and sat in on meetings with Tigers head Coach Bill Cronin.

Faulkner told Fox today "They are super, super excited to have you come to Georgetown ... the ball is in your court, and take advantage of it ... you have all the potential, you have all the skills in the world to do it, make it happen."

Thomas said Fox is "a very, very talented kid"

In an injury-plagued high school career, Fox played linebacker and running back.

Fox said Georgetown plans to play him at running back. He plans to study exercise science and physical therapy.
