Mason County controlled the tempo and led 13-5 early in the game, but Fleming County heated up from 3-point range and defeated the Royals 65-54 on Friday night in the quarterfinal round of the Kentucky 2A Championships Section 6 Tournament at The Fieldhouse.
Bradley Robinson made seven 3-pointers and scored a game-high 31 points for Fleming County. Seth Hickerson added 12.
Braeden Myrick led Mason County with 17 points. Cole Horch contributed 16 points and nine rebounds and Garryon McClain added 13 points and five rebounds.
Fleming County scored 10 straight points to take a 15-13 lead early and outscored Mason County 10-4 in the second quarter to lead 23-17 at halftime.
The Panthers outscored Mason County 21-14 in the third quarter and led by as many as 16 points.
Fleming County outscored Mason County 36-12 from 3-point range. The Panthers were 12-of-16 from beyond the arc including 7-of-13 in the second half.
Mason County was 4-of-17 (23.5%) on 3-point shots.
Fleming County (10-3) moves on to the semifinals to play the Rowan County Vikings on Monday night at Rowan County.
Mason County (6-5) will be back in action on January 11 at home vs. the Greenup County Musketeers.
