The Mason County Royals led by as many as six points in the first half, but lost to the W.E.B. Dubois Academy Lions 62-50 on Saturday in the Mason County Invitational Tournament.
The Royals used a 10-0 run to lead 23-17 in the second quarter and went to the locker room at halftime up 28-24.
DuBois (5-6) took control of the game by outscoring Mason County 25-11 in the third quarter and led 62-43 with 3:51 left in the game.
DuBois sophomore Ja Rye Brown scored 13 of his game-high 32 points in the third quarter.
For the second straight game, Mason County senior Garryon McClain set a new career high with 22 points. Braeden Myrick tossed in 10 points for the Royals.
Mason County (6-3) will host the Fleming County Panthers on Friday in the Kentucky 2A Championships Section 6 Tournament.
