Thursday night high school football: Mason County at Grant County

The Mason County Royals will head to Dry Ridge on Thursday night for a district game vs. the Grant County Braves.

Mason County, 6-1 overall and 2-0 in district play, is riding a three-game winning streak.

Grant County opened the season with three consecutive victories, but is 2-2 in its last four games including a 2-1 record in district action.

Both teams have district wins over Holmes and Harrison County.

Mason County routed Holmes 60-0 on October 4 and shutout Harrison County 35-0 last week.

Grant County topped Harrison County 28-16 on September 24 and shutout Holmes 47-0 last week.

In between those two victories, the Braves lost a district game to Covington Catholic 54-0.

In the latest Class 4A statistics report, Mason County is No. 6 in passing yards per game (226) and No. 6 in rushing defense (82 yards per game.

Grant County averages 196.7 rushing yards per game while passing for just 380 yards for the season.

Mason County leads the series with Grant County 4-1 including a 50-6 victory last season.
