Royals shutout by Boyd County 3-0

The Mason County Royals' season-opening three-game winning streak was snapped by a 3-0 loss to the Boyd County Lions on Friday night in Cannonsburg.

Each team committed two turnovers in the first half.

Boyd County (3-1) kicked a 25-yard field goal late in the first quarter.

Mason County threatened to score in the second quarter. The Royals drove from their own 12 yard line to the Boyd County five yard line, but the drive ended with an interception on a halfback option pass.

The Royals drove to the Lions' 20 yard line midway through the fourth quarter before turning it over on downs, and their final drive of the game ended on the Boyd County 39 yard line.

After three straight road games, Mason County will be at home next week vs. the Rowan County Vikings.
