Mason County edges Harrison County 68-66

Four Mason County players scored in double digits and the Royals were able to pull out a 68-66 win over the Harrison County Thorobreds on Tuesday night at The Fieldhouse.

Landon Scilley had 16 points, eight rebounds, three steals and two assists. Braylon Hamilton scored 12 of his 16 points in the fourth quarter. Jake Feldhaus had 10 points and eight rebounds and Braeden Myrick added 10 points.

Harrison County point guard Kaydon Custard poured in 34 points on 11-of-17 shooting from the field and 10-of-12 on free throws. Elijah Harris added 14 points.

Mason County (18-10) led 20-11 at the end of the first quarter and 23-11 in the second quarter.

Harrison County (13-14) rallied to tie the game at 46-all with 10 seconds remaining in the third quarter and took its first lead at 49-46 with 5:48 left in the game. 

There were four lead changes and five ties in the fourth quarter.

The Thorobreds were up 54-50 with four minutes left. The Royals regained the lead for good at 63-62 with 56 seconds to go and were up 68-64 with 15 seconds left in the clock.

Harris made two free throws with 10 seconds left. Mason County committed a turnover with 7.8 seconds to play, but Harrison County had a turnover and committed a foul with two seconds to go.

Time ran out after Mason County missed both free throws.

The Royals will close out the regular season on Thursday night at Collins.
