Highland could be a district opponent of Mason County in the 2025 and 2026 football seasons

Twenty-three time state champion Highlands would be added to Mason County's district based on an initial draft of the football realignment for the 2025 and 2026 seasons.

Highlands would drop down from Class 5A and join Mason County, Grant County, Harrison County, Holmes and eight-time state champion Covington Catholic in District 5 of Class 4A.

The Kentucky High School Athletic Association Board of Control approved the initial draft on Tuesday. Input will be gathered from member schools before the board gives final approval to realignment at its May meeting.

Mason County moved up to Class 4A this past season and had Covington Catholic as a district opponent for the first time.
