KHSAA announces details for 2024 indoor track and field season

For years the indoor track and field season has been conducted by the Kentucky Track and Cross Country Coaches Association.

That changes with the upcoming season. The Kentucky High School Athletic Association will hold its first indoor track and field state championships March 1-2 at the Norton Healthcare Sports and Learning Center in Louisville.

The KHSAA on Wednesday announced details for the season.

There are not enough indoor track and field facilities to hold regional meets, so athletes with the best 24 times/performances and ties in each class during the regular season will be state qualifiers.

Track events include 4x800 meter relay, 60 meter hurdles, 60 meter dash, 1500 meter run, 400 meter dash, 800 meter run, 200 meter dash, 300 meter run and 4x400 meter relay.

Field events include high jump, long jump, pole vault, shot put and triple jump.

Mason County will continue to compete in Class 2A.

The Mason County boys' and girls' teams were both state runners-up at the KTCCCA Class AA State Championships last March.

Both teams were state champions in 2021.

The Mason County boys have won three KTCCCA state championships.
