The Mason County Royals closed out the regular season with a 20-14 loss to the Lawrence County Bulldogs in Louisa on Friday night.
All of the scoring took place in the first and third quarters.
After Lawrence County scored first, Mason County answered a minute and 33 seconds later when Keshaun Thomas threw a 38-yard touchdown pass to Landon Scilley.
The Bulldogs went up 20-7 before Kenton Johnson rushed nine yards for the Royals' second touchdown.
Mason County took over on downs at the Lawrence County one-yard line with 1:31 left in the game, but the Royals' drive ended with an interception.
The Royals (6-4) will host the Boyd County Lions next week in the first round of the Class 4A playoffs. Boyd County beat Mason County 45-21 on September 8 at Mason County.
