Competing against 17 of the top teams in the state, the Mason County Royals, led by Jake Feldhaus' runner-up finish, took 10th place in the Kentucky Invitational Tournament at Wildwood Country Club in Louisville Saturday with a team score of 320.
Feldhaus fired a 3-under par 69 and finished regulation play tied with Christian Academy-Louisville senior Brady Smith.
Smith, the individual state champion last year and a University of Louisville commit, beat Feldhaus on the second hole of a sudden-death playoff to win medalist honors.
Quin Grooms shot an 80. Noah Gardner carded an 84. Ryan Skaggs added an 87 to the team score and Cole Owens shot a 93.
The Royals will play in the Judy Construction Invitational hosted by the Harrison County Thorobreds at Houston Oaks Golf Course in Paris Sunday.
