Mason County sophomore Jake Feldhaus was the Kentucky Cup runner-up at the University Club of Kentucky Wednesday.
Greenwood senior Jacob Lang, a University of Kentucky commit, beat Feldhaus on the second hole of a sudden-death playoff for medalist honors after the two finished regulation play tied at 4-under 67.
Feldhaus shot a 32 on the front nine and a 35 on the back nine. He had five birdies.
"Jake going toe to toe against a UK commit while UK coaches are watching was crazy to watch," Mason County coach Bryson Bennett wrote in a tweet. "And he's just a sophomore."
Mason County finished ninth in the team standings at 26-over 310.
Noah Gardner tied for 39th with a 77. Cole Owens' 82 and Ryan Skaggs' 84 rounded out the Royals' team score. Quin Grooms shot an 87.
The Royals will play in the WWC Semi-State Preview at Winchester Country Club Thursday.
Mason County is starting to figure it out with a finish in the top 10 against the best teams in the state!
