Lady Royals and Royals sweep Area 7 Championships

The Mason County girls' and boys' track and field teams swept the Kentucky Track and Cross Country Coaches Association Area 7 Championships at Mason County Friday night.

The Lady Royals finished with 170 points. The Russell Lady Devils were the runners-up in the girls' meet with 109 points.

The Royals racked up 172 points. Greenup County was a distant second with 85.5 points.

Mason County freshman Lexi Young and Mason County senior Austin Moreland won the high point trophies. Young won the 200 meter dash (26.03), the high jump (5-0), the long jump (16-2.35) and finished second in the 100 meter dash (12.40). Moreland won the 110 meter hurdles (16.23) and the 300 meter hurdles (42.49).
