The Royals, playing without Terrell Henry and four subs for the second straight game due to injuries, trailed by eight points in the second quarter and led by five in the third quarter.
Simon Kenton missed four free throws in the closing seconds, and Mason County missed a 3-pointer at the buzzer.
Carter McClananan scored 11 points to lead the Royals in scoring.
