Tennessee to retire Chris Lofton's jersey on January 14

The University of Tennessee will retire Chris Lofton's No. 5 jersey at halftime of the Volunteers' home game vs. the Kentucky Wildcats on Saturday, January 14.

UT coach Rick Barnes surprised Lofton with the news as this year's team looked on in Thompson-Boling Arena.

After leading Mason County to the 2003 state championship and a state runner-up finish in 2004, Lofton was named Kentucky Mr. Basketball before beginning a record-setting career at Tennessee.

Lofton is fourth on the Volunteers' all-time scoring list with 2,131 career points. He holds the Southeastern Conference record for made three-pointers with 431.

Only four other Tennessee men's basketball players have had their jerseys retired.
