Mason County girls' and boys' sweep Buffalo Trace Conference Championships

Even though the junior class was gone to Kings Island and several athletes competed in events they don't normally do, the Mason County girls' and boys' track and field teams swept the Buffalo Trace Conference Championships in dominating fashion Friday evening at Bracken County.

The Lady Royals, now 6-for-6 this season, racked up 257 points. The Bracken County Lady Bears were the runners-up with 106 points.

The Royals won with 213 points. The Augusta Panthers finished second with 121 points. Fleming County and Lewis County were at the Eastern Kentucky Conference meet.

First place finishes by Mason County athletes include:

• Madison Howard, the girls' 100 meter hurdles (19.42) and the girls' triple jump (30-06.75)
• Sarah Payne, the girls' 100 meter dash (14.05) and the girls' 300 meter hurdles (50.16)
• CJ Arthur, the boys' 100 meter dash (12.78) and the boys' 200 meter dash (24.86)
• Brooklyn Young, the girls' 400 meter dash (1:06.55)
• Alix Flinders, the boys' 400 meter dash (54.26)
• Jennifer Buttery, the girls' 800 meter run (2:46.10)
• Lexi Young, the girls' 200 meter dash (26.50), the girls' high jump (5-04.00) and the girls' long jump (17-10.50)
• Max Arrasmith, the boys' high jump (6-00.00)
• William Callender, the boys' long jump (18-05.50)
• Ethan Vietze, the boys' triple jump (31-05.50)
• Victoria Lavinder, the girls' discus throw (77-10)
• The girls' 4x200 meter relay team of Kylee Howe, Jennifer Buttrey, Haven Hamilton and Hadley Maher (2:03.8)
