After trailing by seven points at halftime, the Mason County Royals outscored the Augusta Panthers 21-4 in the third quarter, including a 12-0 run, on their way to a 63-52 win in the lower bracket semifinal game of the 39th District Tournament tonight at The Fieldhouse.
Mason County (22-5) used zone pressure to speed up Augusta in the second half. The defense helped jumpstart the offense as the Royals shot 61.9% from the field in the second half.
Nate Mitchell scored 14 of his team-high 18 points in the second half. Terrell Henry had a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds.
Augusta (15-12 )was led by Riley Mastin who had a double-double with 20 points and 12 rebounds. LJ Conner scored 10 points.
