The Mason County Lady Royals finished second and the Royals took sixth place in the 2021 Stan Steidel Invitational track and field meet Saturday at Holmes High School.
Twelve schools competed in the meet. The Lady Royals had a total of 113 points. Ryle won the meet with 158 points. Ryle also won the boys' meet with 106 points. The Royals finished with 41 points.
First place finishes by Mason County athletes include:
Rachel Payne, girls' 100 meter hurdles (17.63) and girls' 300 meter hurdles (50.77)
Layla Henderson, girls' 3200 meter run (11:53.18)
Kenzie Gulley, girls' long jump (15-02.50)
The girls' 4x200 meter relay team of Alexis Decker, Avery Sims, Sarah Payne and Morgan Carpenter (1:58.21)
The girls' 4x100 meter relay team of Madison Hall, Madison Howard, Kenzie Gulley and Neveah Wright (54.80)
The girls' 4x400 meter relay team of Alexis Decker, Morgan Carpenter, Rachel Payne and Sarah Payne (4:23.12)
The boys' 4x200 meter relay team of Carson Adams, Matthew Chambers, Colton Riggs and Alix Flinders (1:40.88)
The Mason County track and field teams are this week for spring break. Their first home meet of the season is scheduled for April 17.
