Lady Royals win Royal Rumble Invitational; Karis Applegate sets two school records

Mason County junior Karis Applegate set two new school records and helped the Lady Royals win the Royal Rumble Invitational -- Mason County's first home meet of the outdoor track and field season.

Applegate set new school records in the 100 meter dash (12.77) and the 200 meter dash (26.57) and won both events.

The Lady Royals racked up 181 points. Ryle finished second with 107 points.

Russell won the boys' meet with 99 points. The Mason County Royals finished in 10th place with 33 points.

Other Mason County athletes with first place finishes include:

Morgan Carpenter in the girls' pole vault (7-06.00);

The girls' 4x200 meter relay team of Jennifer Buttery, Alexis Decker, Morgan Carpenter and Avery Sims (1:55.81);

The girls' 4x100 meter relay team of Karis Applegate, Kenzie Gulley, Madison Hall and Neveah Wright (52,47);

The girls' 4x400 meter relay team of Hadley Maher, Rachel Payne, Sarah Payne and Morgan Carpenter (4:31.54).
