Remembering Butch Chain

I was sadden to hear that Butch Chain, the longtime video man for the Mason County football team, had died this week.

Butch's videos were second to none. He loved supporting the Royals with his work. He was on top of the Mason County press box shooting game video in all kinds of weather.

Butch loved serving his deep fried turkey at the tailgate parties at Mason County's road games. He also made sure my broadcast partners and me got some turkey if we're unable to attend the tailgate parties.

Butch not only loved Mason County football, he was a huge fan of high school football in general. After the Royals were eliminated from postseason play, he would travel to watch other teams play.

He shot video for the Northeastern Kentucky East vs. West Senior Bowl Game.

Butch received the "Felici Felice No Excuses Award" at  the 2009 Mason County football team banquet, the Mason County Board of Education named him "Volunteer of the Month" in September 2017 and he was the grand marshal for the 2018 Mason County Homecoming parade.

Butch will be missed and hard to replace. RIP.
