The COVID-19 pandemic forced the New York City Marathon to go virtual. Gabe Grutza of Maysville took advantage of the opportunity and completed the 26.2 miles here in Maysville on Saturday with a time of 3:27:56.
Grutza started the race at 6:35 a.m.
Runners were permitted to run the 26.2 miles in a single run anytime between October 17 and November 1. Runners who registered and complete their virtual run receive a finisher medal and marathon branded running buff.
Grutza is at least the second Maysville resident to run a virtual marathon this year. John Bess ran the virtual Boston Marathon on September 7.
