Buddy Biggs new boys' basketball coach at Fleming County

Former Mason County coach Buddy Biggs was introduced as the new Fleming County boys' basketball coach today.

Biggs succeeds Chris Stapleton who resigned after three seasons as the Panthers' coach.

Biggs, addressing the Fleming County players, said the No. 1 goal was to add a regional champion team photo to the five already on wall of the gym "and it's going to happen as soon as possible."

It's a return to the 16th Region for Biggs who was the head coach of the Ashland Tomcats for nine seasons before coming to Mason County.

Biggs resigned as Mason County's coach in 2018 after three seasons as the Royals' coach. He said the coaching itch returned last season.

"When this opportunity came up, I thought it was too good to pass up," Biggs said. "

Biggs has guided two teams to the state tournament: Pendleton County in 2005 and Mason County in 2016.

His teams have won 11 district championships and made 16 straight appearances in the regional tournament.
