Kentucky High School Athletic Association Commissioner Julian Tackett says there's no indication from the KHSAA Board of Control that there's any delay in the scheduled start of fall sports next week.
Tackett participated in a Special Superintendent's Webcast on COVID-19 today, one day after the Kentucky Department of Education sent a letter to the KHSAA seeking more guidance on playing fall sports during the pandemic.
"At this point, it is moving forward with the regular plan start from Monday," Tackett said.
Tackett was asked how the KHSAA Board of Control will meet the charge given by the KDE by Monday.
"The correspondence was directed to the board, they'll have to decide how they interpret it and what action they decide to take, if any," Tackett said.
The commissioner said the KHSAA's counsel and the KDE's counsel are meeting Wednesday "to try to have some discussions where it needs to go."
Tackett said there was not a rush for the KHSAA Board of Control to meet.
