The Kentucky Department of Education is asking the Kentucky High School Athletic Association Board of Control to meet and consider more guidance for high-contact fall sports during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The requests were made in a letter from KDE Chair Lu Young. The Kentucky Board of Education held a three hour and 45 minute meeting last week concerning the KHSAA's plan to begin fall sports next week.
Among other requests, the KDE wants the KHSAA to develop COVID-19 testing protocols for athletes and coaches that could be replicated across the state.
The KHSAA has not issued a response to the KDE letter.
