The Kentucky High School Athletic Association Board of Control today approved the start dates of practice and competition for fall sports other than golf which is scheduled to start this Friday.
August 24 is the first day of practice. Competition in soccer, volleyball, cross country, field hockey is set to begin September 7. The start of the football season is pushed back to September 11, three weeks later than normal.
August 24 is also the start date for Competitive Cheer and Dance. The KHSAA is recommending those activities take place outdoors.
A week has been added to football's regular season on November 6.
The first round of the football playoffs are pushed back one week to November 13 and 14. The football finals are also pushed back one week to December 11 and 12.

Sept. 18 Lloyd Memorial Home
Sept. 25 Pendleton County Home
Oct. 2 Open
Oct. 9 Fleming County Away
Oct. 16 Lewis County Home
Oct. 23 Powell County Away
Oct. 30 Greenup County Away
Nov. 6 Open
Mason County was originally scheduled to play its first three games on the road vs. Russell, Harrison County and Perry County Central. One of those games could be rescheduled on Nov. 6.
This could all change depending on what happens with the COVID-19 pandemic. The KHSAA Board of Control's next meeting is scheduled on August 20 at 10:30 a.m.
