The Mason County girls and boys indoor track and field teams closed out the season in a big way on Saturday at the KTCCA Class A Indoor State Championship at the Carmeuse/Mason County Schools Indoor Athlete Complex.
The Lady Royals are the state runners-up for the fifth straight year. The Royals took third place just 4.5 points behind the second place team.
Mason County senior Isaiah Riggs is the state champion in the 3000 meter run for the second consecutive year. He crossed the finish line at 10:08.41.
The girls 4x800 meter relay team of Alyssa Bisotti, Layla Henderson, Hayden Faris and Paige Decker are also state champions. They won with a time of 10:39.85.
Riggs was the runner-up in the 1600 meter run with a time of 4:59.56.
The Rockcastle County girls and the Butler County boys won the Class AA team state championships.
Saturday was the fifth straight week Mason County hosted a meet. The Class A and Class AAA also took place at Mason County on Saturday. Now it's on to the outdoor track and field season.
