Local sports notes

Here are a few local sports notes as we wait for the rain to turn to snow today:

  • The Montgomery County Indians rallied from a 17-point second quarter deficit to upset the Bourbon County Colonels 69-63 in overtime last night in the semifinals of the 40th District Tournament. Bourbon County was the No. 1 team in the region.
  • Montgomery County has a talented team with a state champion coach in Steve Wright, but the win over Bourbon County is still shocking especially after the Indians faced such a huge deficit.
  • After last night's games the fields are set for the boys' and girls' 10th Region tournaments. The boys' teams are Campbell County, Bishop Brossart, Robertson County, Pendleton County, Mason County, Augusta, George Rogers Clark and Montgomery County. The girls' teams are Campbell County, Bishop Brossart, Harrison County, Nicholas County, Mason County, St. Patrick, George Rogers Clark and Bourbon County.
  • The girls' 10th Region Tournament will be played at Campbell Middle School. The quarterfinal round games will be played next Monday and Tuesday, the semifinals on Friday, March 6th and the championship game on Saturday, March 7th.
  • The boys' 10th Region Tournament will be at George Rogers Clark's new arena. The quarterfinal round games will be played on Wednesday, March 4th and Thursday, March 5th, the semifinals on Monday, March 9th and the championship game on Tuesday, March 10th.
