Royals take on Panthers tonight in Flemingsburg

The Mason County Royals, coming off a season-opening 53-0 rout of North Adams, hit the road tonight to play arch rival Fleming County at Panther Field in Flemingsburg.

Fleming County opened the season with a 47-6 loss to the Harrison County Thorobreds. The Panthers committed five turnovers and were held to 94 yards of total offense.

Harrison County rushed for 480 yards against the Panthers.

Kickoff is at 7:30.


Game notes:
  • The series is tied 21-21. Fleming County has won the last four meetings including 16-9 last season.
  • Mason County's last win over Fleming County was in 2013.
  • Mason County and Fleming County will once again be district foes next season when the Royals drop from Class 4A to Class 3A.
  • Fleming County announced a sponsorship with Giovanni's restaurant in Flemingsburg that will allow students to attend all Fleming County athletic events free of charge. This includes students from the opposing schools visiting Fleming County.
