Campbell Co. tops Scott 68-62 for 10th Region title

Reid Jolly scored 21 points and grabbed 14 rebounds to lead the Campbell County Camels to a 68-62 victory over the Scott Eagles tonight in the championship game of the 10th Region Tournament at The Fieldhouse.

It's Campbell County's third region title in five seasons.

The Camels led 32-21 with 3:20 left in the second quarter, but Scott pulled to within two at 34-32 at the end of the half and led 46-45 at the end of the third quarter. 

Campbell County scored the first four points of the fourth quarter and had the lead the rest of the game.

The Camels were up 65-56 with 38 seconds remaining after Nate Schaefer hit two free throws, but Scott guard Nelson Perrin made two three-pointers to make it interesting.

Perrin's second trey cut Campbell County's lead to four at 66-62 with 18 seconds to play, and the Camels committed a turnover trying to inbound the ball against the Eagles'press.

But Perrin was called for traveling while attempting to shoot another three-pointer.

Campbell County point guard Joel Day sank two free throws to seal the victory.

The Camels outshot the Eagles 54.8 percent to 45.3 percent and won the rebounding battle 33-20.

Tanner Clos scored 13 points including his 1,000th career point for Campbell County.

Day and Drew Wilson scored 11 points apiece.

Perrin led Scott in scoring with 19 points.

Trey Meister tossed in 16 points and Chad Ohmer added 14 points.

Jolly, Day, Clos, Wilson, Perrin, Meister and Ohmer were named to the All Tournament Team.

Campbell County will play 2nd Region champion University Heights Academy in the first round of  the Whitaker Bank/KHSAA Boys Sweet 16 at noon on Thursday, March 15 at Rupp Arena.
