The Mason County girls and boys cross country teams qualified for the state meet.
The Lady Royals were the runners-up and the Royals finished third in the Class 2A Region 6 meets at Elliott County Saturday.
Ashland won the girls region title with 19 points. Mason County had 63 points.
Five Mason County girls finished in the top 20- Alyssa Bisotti in ninth place (21:15.78), Paige Decker in 10th place (21:21.24), Elizabeth Lavinder in 12th place (21:49.70), Hayden Faris in 14th place (22:10.50) and Kylee Howe in 18th place (22:46.96).
Russell won the boys region title with 36 points. Boyd County was the runner-up with 44 points and Mason County was third with 92 points.
The Royals were led by Connor Linville in ninth place (18:17.16) , Isaiah Riggs in 11th place (18:22.51) and Carson Adams in 16th place (18:46.60).
The Bracken County boys and girls, and the Augusta boys also qualified for state.
Jared Jefferson won the boys race and Brandon Cox was third to lead the Polar Bears to a runner-up finish at the Class A Region 5 meet in Winchester. The Polar Bears were the runners-up to Lexington Christian.
Three other Bracken County boys finished in the top 20- Nicholas Cummins in 16th place (18:58.07), Collin Jefferson in 19th place (19:08.27) and Thomas Yelton in 20th place (19.11.67).
The Lady Bears finished third behind Lexington Christian and Owen County and were led by Heather Ebert in 13th place (22:45.59) and Macie Sharp in 14th place (22:46.48).
Two other Bracken County girls finished in the top 20- Gracie Ramsey in 18th place (23:03.35) and Holly Ebert in 20th place (23:33.94).
David Reed led the Augusta boys with a 26th place finish (19:41.21.)
Three St. Patrick runners qualified for the state meet. Marvin Koch took 10th place (18:47.05) and Willie Franco in 21st place (19:16.77) in the boys race and Allison Hughes in 16th place (23:01.44) in the girls race.
Emma Young of Augusta took 6th place (21:49.44) and is headed to state.
Fleming County runners who qualified for the Class 2A state meet include: Carys Earlywine, Erin Peese and Robert Applegate.
The state championship meets are this Saturday at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington. The Class A girls race is first at 9:30 a.m. followed by the Class A boys race at 10:15 a.m., the Class 2A girls race at 11:30 a.m. and the Class 2A boys race at 12:15 p.m.
