Mason Co. and Rowan Co. meet today at MSU

The Mason County Royals play the Rowan County Vikings today at 1 p.m. at Morehead State University's Jayne Stadium.

Here are a few game notes:

• Both teams are 1-1. Mason County defeated North Adams 68-7 in the season opener and lost to Fleming County 18-14 last week. Rowan County opened the season with a 54-36 victory over Morgan County and lost to Bath County 30-20 last week.
• Rowan County has thrown just nine passes this season.
• Senior tailback Chris Bolton rushed for 247 yards and five touchdowns in the Vikings' win over Morgan County.
• Rowan County's offensive line averages 285 pounds.
• This is the second time Mason County and Rowan County have played each other at Jayne Stadium. The Royals defeated the Vikings 36-16 in the 1991 Hardwood Bowl.
• The Vikings lead the series 18-12, but the Royals have won three of the last four meetings including a 34-7 victory last season.
