Lady Royals Class AA indoor track and field state runners-up

The Mason County Lady Royals are the Class AA indoor track and field state runners-up for the third straight year.

Rockcastle County won the girls' Class AA title Saturday at the Mason County Schools/Carmesuse Complex.

Rockcastle County had 136 points, Mason County finished with 111.5 points and Owensboro was third with 104 points.

Bryan Station edged John Hardin by four points and Ballard by eight points in the boys' Class AA meet. Mason County finished in eighth place.

Mason County senior Rheagan Sizemore is the state champion in the pole vault with a new school record of nine feet. The pole vault competition was held last weekend.

Sizemore was also a member of the state champion 4x400 meter relay and 4x800 meter relay teams and finished third in the 400 meter dash (1:05.66).

Sizemore teamed with Abigail Dawson, Olivia O'Hearn and Hadley Faris on the 4x400 meter relay team that set a school record with a time of 4:30.25.

The 4x800 meter relay team of Hayden Faris, Abigail Dawson, Hadley Faris and Sizemore won in a time of 10:53.24.

Mason County junior Dalton Kindt won the state championship in the shot put (46-03.75) and Mason County senior Michael Vacik was the runner-up (41-04.50).

Several other Mason County athletes had second or third place finishes.

Eighth grader Hayden Faris was the runner-up in the 3000 meter run (13:05.41).

Sophomore Te'a King was the runner-up in the high jump (4-04.00).

Junior Marissa Scilley was the runner-up in the triple jump (31-08.00) and finished third in the long jump (15-02.50).

Freshman Connor Linville was the runner-up (10.30.88) and freshman Isaiah Riggs was third (10:32.66) in the 3000 meter run.

Junior Hadley Faris was third in the 800 meter run (2:44.26).

Sophomores Olivia O'Hearn and Abigail Dawson tied for third place in the pole vault (8-00.00).

Sophomore Landon Prather took third place in the high jump (5-10.00).
