Campbell Co. beats Mason Co. 91-70

The Campbell County Camels showed why they are the top-rated team in the 10th Region and ranked as high as 7th in the state with a 91-70 victory over the Mason County Royals tonight at Campbell County.

The Camels shot 57.4% from the field including 68% (17 of 25) in the second half, and Gerren Bertsch and Cole Hegyi combined for 50 points.

Campbell County jumped out to an 18-4 lead. Mason County rallied to within four at 25-21 with 5:05 left the second quarter, but the Camels ended the half on a 21-9 run.

Mason County cut the deficit to 12 at 59-47, but Campbell County pulled away with a 13-2 run and led by as many 24 on the way to its 11th consecutive win.

Bertsch scored 27 points, Hegyi followed with 23 points and Reid Jolly added 10 points.

Jaylen Lofton scored a career-high 25 points for Mason County.

Leevi Dunaway scored 13 points before fouling out with 4:55 left in the game.

Isaiah Garrison scored 12 points and Sam Kumler added 11 points.

Mason County was without 6-foot-10 junior center Dalton Perkins who suffered an injury in last week's loss to Lexington Christian.
