Mason County will honor former coach Allen Feldhaus Thursday night

Mason County will honor former basketball coach Allen Feldhaus between the boys and girls games Thursday night in the US Bank Mike Murphy Classic.

Feldhaus is Mason County's winningest coach. During his 16 seasons as the Royals' coach he compiled a 325-136 record.

He guided the Royals to eight district titles and their first four 10th Region championships.

Mason County was the state runner-up in 1981.

The 1981-82 team won its first 31 games before losing to Virgie in the quarterfinal round of the state tournament.

Feldhaus was named The Courier-Journal's Kentucky High School Coach of the Year in 1982 and 1986.

The Royals play the Madison Central Indians Thursday at 6 p,m,  Madison Central is coached by Allen Feldhaus Jr.

The Lady Royals play the Covington Holy Cross Lady Indians Thursday at 8 p.m.
