The Mason County Royals (9-1) host the East Ridge Warriors (5-5) tonight in the first round of the Class3A football playoffs. Mason County is riding a nine-game winning streak. East Ridge went 0-3 in the district play but qualified for the playoffs because there are only four teams in District 8. The Royals defeated the Warriors 62-6 in the first round last year.
East Ridge Coach Brad Allen says his team has come a long way since last year. "We got in the weight room and got a lot stronger and (we've) got some confidence behind us now," Allen said.
East Ridge is averaging 311 rushing yards a game- second best in Class 3A.
The Warriors 5-5 record is the best in the nine-year history of the school.
"We've lost five games to five tough teams," Allen said. "We've had some good wins this year, we had some bad losses."
Allen said hopefully his team "will come out and have a good show (tonight)."
Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m.
