Saints outlast Polar Bears 81-71 in two OTs

The St. Patrick Saints rallied from a six-point fourth quarter deficit and beat the Bracken County Polar Bears 81-71 in two overtimes tonight in the semifinals of the boys' 39th District Tournament at The Fieldhouse. Andy Clarke scored St. Patrick's first eight points in the first overtime including two three-pointers. The Saints hit 10-of-12 free throws in the second overtime. St. Patrick played both overtime periods without Lee Gallenstein and Stephen Mason. Both players fouled out in the final minute of regulation. Clarke led the Saints with 20 points. Mason scored 15. Daniel Yeary hit 9-of-12 free throws and scored 13 points. Chadwick Thomas scored 10 points, including six in the second overtime. Bracken County junior Caleb Craft scored a game-high 24 points. Dylan Hamilton added 19 points for the Polar Bears, and Tyler Jefferson had a double, double- 14 points and 11 rebounds. St. Patrick will play Mason County in the district championship game Thursday night.
