Lady Royals have big rally, but lose 48-45 to Villa Madonna

The Mason County Lady Royals trailed by 15 in the second quarter and by 10 in the fourth quarter, and rallied to take a one point lead, but lost 48-45 to the Villa Madonna Blue Lightning tonight in Villa Hills. Villa Madonna led 25-10 with 1:51 to play in the second quarter and 40-30 with 6:08 left in the game. Mason County went on a 13-2 run to lead 43-42 with 1:32 to play.
Villa Madonna outscored Mason County 6-2 to the rest of the way. The Lady Royals had a chance to tie the game but missed a long three-pointer in the closing seconds. Amy Kruetzer led the Blue Lightning with 17 points and 12 rebounds. Kim Schroer scored 16 points. Villa Madonna did not attempt a three-point shot in the game. Mason County junior Keller Menke scored 10 of her team-high 14 points in the fourth quarter. Kaitlyn Smith added 12 points for the Lady Royals. Mason County plays at Fleming County Friday night.
