The Mason County Royals held Covington Catholic to 12 first half points and beat the Colonels
59-39 tonight in Park Hills. Mason County led 29-12 at the half and was up by as many as 26 points in the third quarter. Three Royals scored career-highs - Phil Barner with 13, Neal Pawsat 12 and Keith Downing with 11. Russ Middleton added 10 points and moved pass Dustin Grutza into 12th place on the Royals' career scoring list. Luke Maile and Alex Ives were the only two Covington Catholic players to score in the first half. Maile ended up with 14 points and Ives had 12. The Colonels were without starting guard Mitch Shover who was sick. Mason County hosts Holy Cross Tuesday night.
