The Mason County Royals will try to slow down Sheldon Clark running back Ryan Kelly Friday night when they host the Cardinals in the second round of the Class 3A football playoffs.
During the regular season, Kelly, a 5-10, 200 pound senior, rushed for 1,466 yards and 26 touchdowns. Kelly averaged 20.9 carries per game. (Sheldon Clark's statistics from the first round playoff win over East Carter are not available). Sheldon Clark Coach Shawn Hager says Kelly runs hard and is strong. Hager says Kelly carries a big part of the Cardinals' load. Hager says Mason County "is one of the most athletic teams that I think we've played in awhile. They are very, very fast and good."
