The Mason County Royals, coming off a 20-6 win over the Paris Greyhounds, travel to Florence tonight to play the Boone County Rebels. Boone County, a Class 6A team, opened the season with a 23-14 road loss to the Scott County Cardinals.
Last season, Boone County trailed Mason County 20-7 at the half before scoring 35 unanswered points to win 42-7. Cory Faris rushed for 282 yards and five touchdowns. Faris graduated, but junior tailback Charles Quainoo could be the next star running back at Boone County. He rushed for 239 yards on 32 carries and scored two touchdowns in the loss to Scott County.
"Every young man in Boone County grows up wanting to be the next Shaun Alexander," Mason County Coach David Buchanan said. "They're always going to have a good tailback."
