Final Football Alignment for 2009 & 2010
The Mason County Royals and the Fleming County Panthers will once again be district rivals in football beginning in the 2009 season. The Kentucky High School Athletic Association has released the final football alignment for the 2009 and 2010 seasons. Fleming County will move back into Mason County's district (Class 3A, District 7). The Royals and Panthers were in the same district until Mason County moved up to Class 3A in 2003. After being bumped up to Class 3A last year, Fleming County asked to be put in District 6 with Breathitt County, Estill County, Cawood and Powell County for the 2007 and 2008 seasons. The KHSAA approved Fleming County's request. The Royals and Panthers continued to play each other after the moves. One of Mason County's current district opponents-East Carter-will move up to Class 4A in 2009. Here is a link to the 2009 and 2010 alignment.
