The Mason County Royals cranked up their defense in the second quarter and broke open a tie game to beat the Clark County Cardinals 68-45 today in the semifinals of the 10th Region Tournament. It was tied 15-15 early in the second quarter, but Mason County ended the half on a 16-3 run. Trevor Setty's deep three-pointer with one second left in the half made it 31-18. The Royals scored the first nine points of the third quarter to lead 40-18. It was 55-28 with 5:12 left in the game making it a 40-13 run since that 15-15 tie. Trevor Setty led Mason County with 15 points. He was 6-of-8 from the field. Darius Miller scored 14 points, Russ Middleton 12 and Ethan King 11. Freshmen Robbie Stenzel scored a game-high 17 points for Clark County. Mason County advances to the region championship game for the third straight year.
