The Mason County Royals raced out to a 38-12 lead in the first quarter and ran past the Deming Black Devils 101-54 tonight in the first round of the 10th Region Tournament at Montgomery County. Mason County scored 45 points off 33 Deming turnovers. Darius Miller scored 22 points and moved past Shawn Myrick into third place on the Royals' all-time scoring list. Miller was 10-of-13 from the field, including 2-of-2 on three-point shots. Russ Middleton scored 15 points.
Jackson Tolle scored a career-high 12 points and was 5-of-6 from the field. Trevor Setty scored 11 points and Ethan King added 10. The Royals had 24 assists. Mason County will play the Clark County Cardinals in the semifinals Saturday at noon. The Cardinals rallied from a nine-point deficit to edge the Campbell County Camels 63-61 in the tournament opener.
