The Mason County Royals made 13 of 16 free throws in the fourth quarter and upset Mount Vernon, NY 73-69 Thursday in the Iolani Prep Classic in Hawaii. Mount Vernon is ranked 15th in the nation in the USA Today Super 25 rankings. There were three ties and nine lead changes in the game. Darius Miller led Mason County in scoring with 23 points. Russ Middleton scored 19 and Trevor Setty added 13. Mount Vernon forward Kevin Jones, a West Virginia signee, had a game-high 36 points. Mason County plays the No. 10 team, Rice of New York City, Saturday at 1 a.m. Maysville time.
