Mason County Host West Carter on Homecoming

The Mason County Royals host the West Carter Comets on Homecoming Friday night. Here are a few notes on the game:

• Mason County is 3-1 overall and 2-0 in district play. West Carter is 1-3 overall and 1-0 in the district. The Comets lost their first three games before beating Lewis County 46-12 last week;
• After playing three of its first four games on the road, Mason County will be at home for four of the last six regular season games;
• A win tonight coupled with a Russell win over East Carter tonight would assure the Royals of a home game in the first round of the playoffs;
• In this week's Class 3A statistics, Mason County is 6th in scoring (35.8 ppg), 7th in scoring defense (14 ppg), 5th in scoring margin (21.8 ppg), 9th in rushing (223 ypg) and 9th in rushing defense ( 126.8 ypg);
• Mason County junior tailback Jeremy Thompson is 8th in scoring (12 ppg);
• Mason County leads the series with West Carter 14-4.
