Mason County Cross Country Invitational

The 5th Annual Mason County Cross Country Invitational was held Saturday. Here are the results from coach Mark Kachler:

AAA power Connor swept the boys and girls varsity races. Covington Scott had both the boys and girls individual race winners. Mason County's girls finished 4th overall being bested by only AAA schools. The Lady Royals were lead by freshman Samantha Grayson who along with junior Rachel White medalled in the meet. St Patrick Freshman Sara Moe also medalled. In the boys varsity race, Mason County's Jim Myers andRipley's Jordan England and Trevor Moffet were medalists. Mason County'sboys team defeated regional opponent Russell for the first time this season with a 6th place overall finish. Like the Lady Royals, the boys team was the highest finishing team not in the AAA division. Mason County's young Lady Royals took the Middle school 1st place trophy with Valerie Rice winning the race. Mason County's Mikal Thackston was 2nd inthe boys middle school race. Ripley was second in both girls and boys middle school team competition. Mason County's #1 runner from the 2006 season, college freshman Travis Scaggs, returned to his home course to win the Open 5k with Robbie Detro taking second. The Ladies division was won by Natalie Leet.
